Promise Neighborhoods Program Announces Early Implementation Competition for FY 2024

The Promise Neighborhoods (PN) Program recently launched a tremendous grant opportunity for FY 2024. The U.S. Department of Education (the Department) announced the start of the 2024 grant competition on June 27, 2024. Applications are due on September 10, 2024. The Department plans to award a total of about $4 million for new grants this year. Please check the Applicant Info and Eligibility page for more information about this year’s competition. And see the Notice Inviting Applications for details about how to apply.

The PN grant is designed to significantly improve the academic and developmental outcomes of children living in the most distressed communities of the United States, including ensuring school readiness, high school graduation, and access to a community-based continuum of high-quality services. The program serves neighborhoods with high concentrations of low-income individuals; multiple signs of distress, which may include high rates of poverty, childhood obesity, academic failure, and juvenile delinquency, adjudication, or incarceration; and schools implementing comprehensive support and improvement activities or targeted support and improvement activities. The FY 2024 PN grant competition will empower LEAs to implement innovative curriculum and programming tailored to their unique community through experiences that give students access to powerful learning opportunities; the LEA the opportunity to transform schools; and provide supports educators in elevating their instructional craft.
